6 Reasons to Buy the iPad Air 3 & 3 Reasons Not To

6 Reasons to Buy the iPad Air 3 & 3 Reasons Not To is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

If you’re in the hunt for a new iPad, you should take a look at Apple’s brand new iPad Air 3.

Apple’s confirmed two brand new 2019 iPads including a 7.9-inch iPad mini 5 and a 10.5-inch iPad Air 3 that replaces the iPad Air 2 from 2014.

The new iPads are currently on sale through Apple and various retailers and they hit shelves next week alongside Apple’s new AirPods 2 earbuds.

The iPad Air 3 come in three colors (silver, space gray and gold) and in 64GB and 256GB configurations. The device starts at $499 in the U.S. for the Wi-Fi-only model and $629 in the U.S. for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model.

If you don’t want to pay full price for an iPad Air 3 you’ll find some early deals that drop the price down a few hundred dollars.

The iPad Air 3 comes with some noticeable upgrades that make it an appealing alternative to the iPad mini 5, 9.7-inch iPad, and the iPad Pro line.

The device comes with an extremely thin design, a 10.5-inch Retina Display with True Tone, a new A12 Bionic Chip which makes it 70% faster than the company’s 9.7-inch iPad, a new 1080p rear camera, and support for Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard accessory.

With the release date on the horizon, those of you in the hunt for a new tablet might want to pull the trigger and buy Apple’s new iPad Air. That said, others are better off going with another iPad model.

If you’re on the fence, allow us to take you through the best reasons to buy the iPad Air 3. We’ll also take you through a few reasons to think about skipping the iPad Air 3 in favor of another device.

Buy for the Best iPad Air Software Support

If you plan on keeping your next iPad for a long time, you should think about investing in a newer model.

Apple didn't announce this when it confirmed the iPad Air 3 but the device is in line for four plus years of software support.

That means four years of new features, bug fixes, enhancements, and very important security patches.

So while you might be tempted to go with an older, cheaper iPad model like the iPad Air 2, note that support for that device and many others will end sooner. In some cases, much sooner.

The iPad Air 3's new hardware also ensures you'll get the latest and greatest software features from Apple. Older devices typically don't get the full version of iOS due to hardware limitations.

The iPad Air 3 launches with the full version of iOS 12 on board and it should get the full version of iOS 13 when the new operating system arrives this fall.
