5 Reasons to Wait for the 2019 iPhone & 11 Reasons Not To

5 Reasons to Wait for the 2019 iPhone & 11 Reasons Not To is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

The 2018 iPhones are excellent options, but some of you might want to skip the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR in favor of Apple’s rumored 2019 models.

In September Apple launched two new iPhones. One is a 5.8-inch successor to the iPhone X dubbed iPhone XS. The other is a larger 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus dubbed iPhone Xs Max.

Apple’s third phone is a cheaper 6.1-inch LCD model called iPhone XR. The iPhone XR comes in a variety of colors and features a cheaper price point.

Those of you in the market for a new phone would be wise to go hands-on with Apple’s new iPhones before buying (or waiting to buy) your next phone. Others might want to start thinking about waiting for this year’s crop of iPhones.

We’re probably six or so months away from most of the 2019 iPhone announcements, but we’ve already seen several credible rumors emerge as we push into the new year.

2019 iPhone 11 Rumors

The company’s new iPhones will reportedly feature a new A13 processor, a new camera setup, OLED and LCD displays without 3D Touch and Apple Pencil support.

Rumors claim the new 2019 iPhones will ditch Lightning in favor of USB-C like Apple’s newest iPad Pros. Several other reports claim the company will keep Lightning as the standard on the 2019 iPhones.

We’ve heard that Apple will continue to bundle in the familiar 5W power adapter with the new iPhones. If true, it would force 2019 iPhone users to spend additional cash on a faster charger.

We’ve also heard that Apple will finally bundle a 18W Fast Charger with the 2019 iPhones. These rumors not only contradict each other, they come from the same website.

Apple’s 2019 phones are still in development which means plans can and likely will change before they are unveiled to the public, but there are already some great reasons to think about waiting for the 2019 models.

In this guide we’ll take you through reasons to consider waiting and also some reasons to think about settling on another device in in the first half of this year.

Wait for Potential Apple Pencil Support

At one point it looked like the 2018 iPhone models would get Apple Pencil support.

TrendForce claimed Apple would be bringing Apple Pencil support to the 2018 iPhone models. Taiwanese publication Economic Daily News also claimed Apple would pair the Apple Pencil with the 5.8-inch iPhone and 6.5-inch model. That obviously didn't happen, but that doesn't mean the rumors are dead in the water.

Respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes Apple Pencil support could come, but that it'll be awhile before it arrives.

Kuo has a very solid track record when it comes to iPhone rumors and we're inclined to believe him at this point.

If that's the case, you might have to wait until 2019, or later, for Apple to bring its stylus solution to the iPhone for the first time.

If you're looking for a top notch phone with a stylus and can't wait until September, you'll want to take a long hard look at the Samsung Galaxy Note 9

Samsung's also working on a Galaxy Note 10 but it probably won't arrive until August.
